Rhonda Douglas Memorial Fund

Donazione protetta
Dear family, friends, coworkers, well wishers and supporters,

It is with great sadness and pain we share that our beloved Rhonda Douglas has passed on. Rhonda fought a valiant battle against colon cancer that started in 2011 On April 20th at 9:55am Rhonda’s fight ended as the complications that accompanied the illness became insurmountable. During the past five years, Rhonda refused to accept this diagnosis as a death sentence, a hindrance on her and her family’s life or to be considered “the patient.” Into her last moments, Rhonda rose from her bed and said “Let’s go!” as she geared up for what ended up being the last stage of her fight.

Many of us will remember Rhonda being involved in all the events that we expected to have her presence. She continued being an integral part of the Guyana Friendship Group of Seattle, leading the charge in preparation and presentation for the Annual Guyana Family Fun Day. Her church family at St. George’s  Episcopal Church will remember her passionate words as she shared her story, read from the Bible and helped to orchestrate an International Food Fair. Rhonda’s coworkers and doctors will remember seeing her cruising the hallways at Swedish Medical Center providing services for patients for several hours, prior to saying hello to “her girls,” at the Cancer Treatment Center in the same building she went to for  her chemotherapy appointments. As a family, we continued to be blessed with having Rhonda cater weddings, plan baby showers, attend birthday parties and forever be a support for so many of us.

From all circles in which Rhonda was involved, her legacy will be remembered as the woman that exuded the ultimate love for life. Her personality shined brighter than the colors we were so used to seeing her wearing: the green shoes at the yearly picnic, the lovely hats during the spring, and The Lady in Red that took our collective breaths away at the foundation Tea Party. Above all we will always remember the woman leading the charge on the dance floor (car, hospital hallway, kitchen or office) as the music started, at any time in the morning, afternoon or night.

At this time we would like to celebrate the untimely passing of our mother, sister, daughter, friend, coworker and supporter. In order to allow Rhonda’s proper passing to a peaceful resting place, we ask for any financial support you may be able to provide to the family at this time. Also given the limited amount of space and abundant number at this time, we ask that you consider a contribution of this manner in lieu of sending flowers, food and gifts.

Rhonda’s passing will undoubtedly have a resounding impact to many people near and far. We thank you for the kind words of support and prayer and ask that they continue as we all seek peace and restructure our lives as we move forward.
