Restore the George Washington Statue

Donation protected
Our beloved George Washington statue needs some love! He has not had a makeover in at least 20 years and is beginning to fall into disrepair. Please donate and help us restore George.

Details of the proposed restoration work: Re-attach the solid bronze right side reins. The statuary patina is degraded and hasdeveloped a whitish blanched coloration on various parts of each figure. The amount of patina loss and color changes vary greatly on different parts of the figures. On some sections the wear is light and subtle, on other areas the loss is down to the base layer patina. The horse's snout has a large calcium-like scab which is most likely from core material left inside after the casting
process. This happens often with hard to access areas. Condensation re-activates the core
chemicals and it exits through pores in the metal. The overall appearance is weathered and neglected. Some of the protective wax layers are still intact, but a considerable amount of patina and underlying bronze are unprotected and should be dealt with soon to avoid a doing a new patina.

Proposed Professional: Steve Roy takes care of all the statues on the Green.
