Hello! My name is Dayton Grandmaison, and my brother and I are fundraising to renovate, restore, and reopen the historic GAYETY THEATRE BUILDING in downtown Van Buren, Maine. Built in 1920, the Gayety Theatre Building was a gathering place for many decades, but has been empty for 7 years; we want to bring the magic of movies back to our town. The completed project will preserve the historic architectural details of the Gayety -- including the original metal ceilings, the Art Deco light fixtures, the elegant seating, the original stage, and the oldest brick facade in downtown Van Buren -- and will feature two beautiful auditoriums and a new community museum devoted to local enterprises.
