It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we remember Davey Villalobos—a cherished artist, illustrator, uncle, brother, cousin, and son. Davey touched countless lives with his immense talent, generous spirit, and the kindness that radiated from everything he did.
As the beloved illustrator of the Unicorn Jazz children’s book series, Davey brought stories to life with his magical touch, filling pages with whimsy, joy, and wonder that captivated children and families around the world. His artistry extended far beyond this cherished series, spanning over 21 books and numerous projects that showcased his unique ability to connect with people through his art—whether in books, collaborations, or personal creations.
To his precious twin nieces, Davey was not just an uncle but a guiding star—playful, devoted, and endlessly loving. To his family, he was a source of unwavering support, boundless creativity, and quiet strength, always ready to share a smile or brighten the day with his thoughtful presence.
In a moment of heartbreaking poignancy, Davey leaves us with one final masterpiece: Butterfly Whispers, a book about grief, loss, and love, set to release this very week. Through his art, he gave us one last gift—offering healing, understanding, and hope as we navigate his absence.
We grieve the loss of this extraordinary soul but celebrate the life, laughter, and beauty he shared with us. Davey’s art will live on as a reflection of his heart—gentle, vibrant, and full of light.
Rest in peace, dear Davey. You are deeply loved, and your light will shine forever in the lives you’ve touched.
