Apple’s Road to Recovery
Donazione protetta
Apple (named by our 4 year old) was found in the pasture with a large, open leg wound. In cattle, leg injuries are one of the worst injuries possible. Apple is only 6 months old and when the vet initially looked at her, he confirmed that she did sever some tendons. His recommendations were to put her down because tendons in legs are hard to heal and could cause problems as she gets older.
Hearing that absolutely broke me… this is my favorite calf (of course) and she is the best replacement heifer in the herd right now. I knew I needed to give her a chance. It just felt right in my heart. But with that second chance also comes medical bills. And expensive ones.
Apple also has to stay in the barn away from the herd to keep her safe and protected while she heals. Which means she will be eating hay for an extended period of time - an additional cost.
I am asking our community to keep us and Apple in your prayers and if it is calling on your heart to donate to her vet bills, we couldn’t thank you enough.
I am updating her progress regularly on Instagram and in my Instagram highlights.
She has a long road to recovery and we won’t know what the extent of her injuries will look like until she is older.
But she is strong and beautiful and deserves to live the best life we can give her. Even if it is shorter than we planned.
Much love to you!
