I'm reaching out with a heart full of sadness, gratitude, and hope.
This month began with an excellent start as my business and brand was voted #1 Place to Receive a Massage on Maui. It is a great honor.
Unfortunately, on the late afternoon of Tuesday, August 8, 2023, my 2nd massage business location, “Maui’s Best Massage - Lahaina,” was engulfed by the devastating fires that destroyed Lahaina town. There is nothing left but rubble and ash.
My crew and I are left in a state of shock and sorrow, still not quite believing the utter destruction the fires wrought.
Thankfully, all of our Staff are safe.
And thankfully, in the midst of this tragedy, we find ourselves surrounded by the warmth of ohana and community.
It's with this aloha spirit that we humbly ask for your support to recoup the loss of one of our sanctuaries of relaxation, rejuvenation, and healing.
The fire not only destroyed our physical space, it also wiped out our equipment, supplies, furnishings, and the gainful employment for our workers there.
In time, we’d like to rise again in Lahaina, but the path to rebuilding will be long as key infrastructure of the city was wiped out.
This loss hits particularly hard as we positioned our Lahaina location as a vital part of our business plan anticipating the semi-closure of our Kihei location for major reconstruction of the building.
The funds we are seeking will be used with the utmost care and thoughtfulness:
1. Recoup losses of space, supplies, and materials.
2. Create a monetary “buffer” when we will have to semi-close our Kihei location for the inevitable construction. We are expecting an 80-90% reduction in revenue during this closure; a loss that would have been mitigated by directing our clients to our Lahaina location.
