Monthly expenses and medical bills

Hi,

My name is Pam Moore and I am organizing this account for my niece's daddy. This past spring, my 9 year old niece, Zoe, went through the horrible pain of watching her mommy fight for her life as cancer attacked her body. Zoe tried as hard as she could to reconcile all of the events in a mind that should be focused on playing and enjoying life. Christy desperately was fighting to remain the mommy to her little girl and her son Zach. Despite a very large group of family, friends and their loving support for Christy, she was simply unable to pull through and we said goodbye to her for the very last time on May 11th.

While Zoe has been devastated as any young child would, she has been adjusting well to living full-time with her dad, Mike, and bonus-mom, Sandy. After Christy's death, Mike and Sandy have been by Zoe’s side giving her the reassurance that she can smile, be a child and most importantly, that she will be alright and is deeply loved. She also has a huge group of friends and family who support and love her unconditionally.

It’s simply impossible to explain to a child as young and sweet as Zoe why God needed her mommy more than she did, but Christy left Zoe with a strong spirit, and a wonderful smile that touches everyone around her, even when her heart is filled with despair and loneliness. Since Christy's passing, her daddy, bonus-mom and siblings, family and friends have been her rock. In addition to Zoe, Mike has two older children, Shelby and Brady, along with step kids and many grandkids who desperately need their dad and pap.

While in quarantine, Sandy has been unable to work. She is now able to visit Mike in the hospital and offer much needed FaceTime calls with the kids and grands in an effort to ease their fear and offer some hope. That being said, Sandy still is temporarily off work to deal with this curve ball that has been thrown her way. She is not only there for Mike, but all the kids and grands as well.

Mike is a hardworking, caring family man who loves his wife, kids and grandkids with all his heart. Now, however, less than 4 months after burying her mother, Zoe’s daddy is ill. Very ill. As he has been attempting to help his daughter get over the pain of losing her mommy, Mike was diagnosed with Covid, and since August 30th, he has been in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. While anyone would fight to not die, can you imagine what you would do to not leave that little girl and her siblings at this point in their life? Mike has struggled hard to stay with us, but this week, after talking to his family, he reached the point where he had to be intubated. This has his family scared to death and devastated. All of them, not just Zoe, but I can’t help but cry wondering how a 9 year old can comprehend what may happen.

We do ask for your prayers for Mike, Sandy and the entire family. This has been a devasting year already, and it just keeps getting worse. We all feel helpless, but we do know we can help alleviate some of the burden that Mike has been so distraught about since going into Ruby….. providing for his family. Only God knows what the outcome of this story will be….. we pray that this family is back together and can hug one another around a very thankful Thanksgiving Day table. But for now, we are asking you to consider assisting this family with monthly expenses and medical bills. They need to focus their attention on their concern for their father, not what happens to the water bill. Anything you can give will not only be appreciated for it’s monetary value, but it will go a long way in showing a wonderful, sweet little 9 year old girl and her siblings that there are always good people, even strangers, that will put their arms around you and say “We love you. You will be alright.”
