On Monday, July 7th, around 1 a.m., our dear friend Lucas, 22, was involved in a serious car accident on the Florida Turnpike. The accident tragically took the life of a close friend, and Lucas was the only survivor. We share this with deep respect for all families affected.

Lucas is currently in the ICU, receiving intensive care and facing a long road ahead. He remains in the stabilization phase and continues to show strength through each step of his recovery.

Originally from Key West, Lucas is now a beloved part of the Oviedo community. He’s also a cherished member of the Sushi Pop family, where his presence, kindness, and laughter have touched coworkers, regulars, and guests alike.

His parents, Juan and Elka, have not left his side. They are far from home, staying at the hospital day and night as they navigate this incredibly difficult and uncertain time.

We’re organizing this fundraiser to support Lucas and his family with:

• Medical expenses and ongoing hospital care

• Travel, meals and lodging while his family remains at the hospital

• Future rehabilitation and physical therapy

• Basic living expenses while Lucas is unable to work

Lucas is the kind of person who lights up every room he walks into. He brings laughter, good energy, and a deep sense of care to those around him. He’s charismatic, honest, and kind — always trying to do right by others. His warmth stays with you.

He’s incredibly grateful and grounded — a reflection of the open-hearted, generous home he comes from. Juan and Elka are just like him: full of love, humility, and the kind of quiet strength that holds people together.

Right now, we’re holding space for that same light to carry him through this recovery — and we’re rallying around the family who has always given so much of themselves to others. While his journey will take time, every step forward matters — and so does your support.
