Rajan's volunteering project - Kenya

Hi everyone, I'm Rajan.

I am 13 years old and I have an exciting opportunity to go and visit Kenya as part of a school trip. The trip is scheduled to take place in 2026, for a duration of 4 weeks.

My school is organising the trip with a company called Camps International who help local communities around the world, by building medical centres, hospitals, schools and new homes.

I'm looking forward to all the different projects that I will get an opportunity to be involved in, these include community projects; building new classrooms, installing a clean water supply, helping to build new homes for families, completing conservation work in and around Tsavo national parks. The wildlife projects include; helping to install and maintain elephant fences, protecting ecosystems and sustaining habitats to allow wildlife to survive.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, which I am so grateful for. I am excited to engage with locals and understand the challenges that they face, learn new skills and meet the kids - hopefully teach them a few things too. I can't wait to experience the Kenyan culture, safari and scuba dive.

I've always wanted to go to Kenya, some of my family are from Kenya and often share their stories of growing up in the country. Hence, this would be amazing experience for me to build a connection with my roots, and to meet new people along the journey.

In order to participate and complete this community work I have been asked by my school to raise £5,000 to cover the cost of the trip through fundraising. I would appreciate your support, every little helps.

For friends and family who are locally based, I'd also be happy to help out with little jobs around the house incl; small gardening jobs / mow lawns, bake a cake (vanilla or chocolate), or even a biscoff cheesecake!! Feel free to get in touch.
