My first poetic anthology
Donazione protetta
Dear everyone,
My name is Javier E. Arus. I'm a 23 year old student, teacher and writer. Poetry has truly been one of the most influential things in my life. From dealing with rough times with my personal life to learning new things, words have played a huge role in my life and in the lives of many others.
While still in high school, I wrote my first poem, a haphazardly composed work about a cloudy day. Although I knew this poem wasn't going to be winning any Nobel Prizes, the relief I felt as I explored the world through verse was unimaginable. Raindrops became capsules of water, the rays of sun turned into scarlet delight. Everything became more interesting; more inspiring.
However, it wasn't until I fell into a deep depression that my poems really escalated. While in the hospital I chatted with the other patients and discovered that beneath every facade of wellness exists a person dealing with an issue who is looking for a better tomorrow. This is where the idea to write this book came from: the human experience.
As I hope you will soon see, my book Origen y ceniza de la locura chronicles the struggle of my alter-ego HB with mental illness. Each chapter depicts a very unique, but altogether relatable aspect of daily life. Furthermore, just to make it a tad more special, I included original art I have created through the years and brief, but meaningful quotes from my favorite writers and thinkers at the beginning of each chapter.
My goal is to bring back poetry and show how poetry and art, at any age or level or experience, can lead to intellectual curiousity, understanding and, above all, happiness.
Please support this project of mine, words can't describe its importance to me. I truly believe that you, the reader, will appreciate and admire this work as much as I do <3

Thank youuuuu xoxo
