Travel and Lodging Expenses for Cancer Treatment

Funds will help cover transportation, lodging, food, caregiver expenses, and additional out-of-pocket expenses related to Kevin's treatment while at MD Anderson in Houston.

Kevin was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma (a rare form of Non-Hodgkins lymphoma) in July 2020. After about a year of chemo and a stem cell transplant, Kevin was in remission, back to work, and doing well. In July 2022, Kevin started having some concerning memory problems. A few weeks later, Kevin had a seizure while driving and brain imaging showed a tumor in his brain. The tumor was biopsied, and the cancer was back in his brain. His oncologist at UT Southwestern referred him to a specialist for his rare cancer type at MD Anderson in Houston. After a long recovery from brain surgery, weeks of inpatient rehab, and continuing outpatient rehab, we are spending an excessive amount of time in Houston. While housing options offer medical rates in the area, the costs are high. In addition to the standard treatment he is receiving in Houston, Kevin will receive CAR T Cell therapy requiring a > 30-day stay in Houston. After CAR T, Kevin will need a stem cell transplant that will keep us in Houston for >100 days.
