Qalim's Funeral Cost

Hi, My name is Imani, and this fundraiser is for my baby brother. He passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 14th, 2022, at the promising age of 22. He was a quiet kid that lived a tough life and struggled with his mental health. He was growing and learning, always striving to do his best and to be his best self.

I remember when we were kids, he didn't talk much. He would communicate using silly sounds and made us laugh with his quirkiness. In the past three years, he was coming out of his shell after isolating himself due to his condition. I remember one day, he called and said, "Imani, I just want to talk," I was so surprised and happy and honored that my brother finally wanted to speak up and have a conversation with me. We spoke for hours. We talked about his dreams and how he wanted to create comic books/manga stories. He would send me pictures of his drawings and explain to me who his main character was. We would talk about how he wanted to go to college and how he wanted to make new friends and even a girlfriend. It warmed my heart to see him maturing and growing beautifully right before my eyes. We were in the process of building a new connection, and I felt so close to him during our long conversations.

Days before he passed, he came over to my house to support me during my move. He was glowing. I was so happy to see him and told him to let's take a picture because you're so beautiful, bro-bro. He never liked taking pictures before but agreed to take this one, and that's the picture on this page.

My brother was a gentle giant with a soft heart that only wanted to feel accepted and loved. He loved to make people laugh, and we loved to be silly together.

I want to honor my brother as best as I can for the light he was in my life, my baby sister's life, my parent's lives, and the lives of our family and friends. I want to give him a beautiful send-off because he was such a beautiful soul.
