Proper retirement gift for William Guido PhD
Donation protected
Dear colleagues, trainees, and fellow neuroscientists,
As many of you have probably already heard, Bill is retiring this July of 2024. He has been a Principal Investigator for more than 30 years!
In those three decades, he’s mentored more than a dozen trainees and maintained an admirable level of quality and productivity. He’s authored more than 95 papers and numerous book chapters. He maintained an R01 for 22 years, including while he was rebuilding his lab after Hurricane Katrina wiped it out in 2005. He has elevated neuroscience at the University of Louisville since arriving as department chair in 2012. He concludes his career as an expert in the field. On top of all that, he is as kind and genuine person as you are every likely to meet. Like many of you, he has made a positive impact on my understanding and perspective of neuroscience. I would like to commemorate his career with a classic retirement gift: a damn fine watch.
If you are interested, please consider in contributing to this effort. The plan is gift him the watch at his retirement party in late July. I will work to have the watch case inscribed with the names of everyone that contributes. If you would prefer to donate anonymously, you are welcome to email me so I can include your name. I have set the target at $2,000. Of course, all funds will be used to purchase the watch and engrave the case.
In July, I will post the details on the watch to this site if possible, or my lab website if not, along with pictures from his retirement party.
This is intended as a surprise. I appreciate your consideration in keeping this confidential.
Best regards,
