Project 2: A Second Chance for a Displaced Family

We are immensely blessed to be living the lives we have today; with a roof over our heads, food on our tables, all whilst having the resources needed to obtain a proper education. But have we ever truly stopped to look at our lives and be thankful for the countless blessings given to us? Have we ever truly stopped and noticed the lives of others and questioned how we can make a positive impact in their lives? Well every single one of us has the potential to do so TODAY!
At Wayne State University’s Fresh Start Organization, our second project is focused on hosting a family that has been struck by a tremendous amount of loss and turmoil in the past few years. The father of this family suffers a physical disability which prevents him from working and providing for his wife and 3 children. His poor health has prevented him from alleviating his family from the crushing weight of hospital bills, and the price of education for his three children. Therefore, in hopes of starting a better life, they have relocated to Michigan. Our Second Project aims to help them transition smoothly, and hopefully live the desired American Dream.
Initially, the goal of Fresh Start was to search for a house for the family, cover the cost of rent for two months, and furnish the home for the family with the anticipation of them adjusting after two months of living here. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen challenges, the family currently crucially needs more financial attention and resources for means of living and restarting their lives. We seek to fundraise with the anticipation of expanding our goal to now pay for rent for up to a year along with the water and electricity bills for their new home. Helping this family establish a new life here will not be easy, but with the help of generous individuals like yourself, we have no doubt we can accomplish our goal and truly impact this family! After all, this is a family in our community that needs our help and it is our duty to do so!
