Hello, we are Ellie's purr-ents, Chloé and Alex.
We adopted Ellie a little over a month ago, and she has brought nothing but love and laughter into our lives. She has made our house feel like a home and has become such an important part of our family. She has been a little playful fluff ball with so much character, until her health started to decline last week. As new cat mum's we have taken her health very seriously since her arrival, with multiple vet check up's, flea and worm treatment’s and taking her for vaccinations. We don't know how, but she has unfortunately contracted Feline Panleukopenia, just a week before she was due to have her 2nd vaccination. As some of you might know, this virus is very aggressive and dangerous for cats, and especially to kittens as young as Ellie. This virus has completely depleted her white blood cell count and so she has been needing specialist care in Glasgow Hospital. We admitted our baby girl on Thursday evening and have been riddled with fear and worry since. We insured Ellie as soon as we got her and our plan will cover up to £4,000 of her veterinary bills, unfortunately as Ellie is so unwell, she will be needing more care and time in order to be her feisty playful self again. We are starting to struggle with the financial cost of Ellie's care, as the most recent estimate from the hospital is now a total of over £8,000. Even with the help of our insurance, we are really worried that if these bills continue to grow, we may be forced to stop the care that she so desperately needs. We are creating this page to reach out for help and are asking if anyone is able to spare some money, even the smallest amount would be such a great help for us at this time. We understand that in today’s world, money is not easy to come by, but we are reaching out as a last resort. We can't bear to think about the alternative of stopping her care when she has been showing us just how much she is willing to fight. Her fever is back to a normal range, her vitals have stabilised, and she is beginning to show interest in food again, the only thing she needs now is for her white blood cell count to improve, but this takes time, meaning she needs to stay in hospital until it is safe for her to come home to us.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about our Ellie and thank you to anyone who can contribute. If you can't, we understand, we ask if you could please share Ellie's story to get the word out to more people, this will help us more than you know.
Thank you,
Chloé, Alex & Ellie.
- All funds raised will be used directly towards Ellie's care.
