Please help to raise money for Rocco's operation

Hi all!

My name is Anna and those of you that know me know that I have a passion for helping animals. Rocco is my latest friend in need.

Rocco is a happy, chunky and mischievious 15 week old Border Terrier. He loves all people, dogs and other animals. He is kind and affectionate and very smart. He really is the perfect little puppy apart from one thing; he is urinary incontinent.

Rocco has bilateral, ectopic ureters which means that the tubes from his kidneys do not go into his bladder, but are misaligned and constantly drip urine through his urethra, onto the floor. Rocco's care is currently pretty intense with constant bathing, bedding changes and incontinence pad changes but seeing him running about so happy makes it all worthwhile.

He gets quite distrssed when he wakes up in his own urine as he is a very clean dog and always asks to be let outside to go to the toilet. Despite this, he is generally happy go lucky puppy and loves his life and all my resident animals. He really is a dream to have around and doesn't have a bad bone in his body.

I have been in contact with several specialists and Rocco has had detailed scans to give us more information about his condition. There is an operation that may restore his continence and his chances of living a happy, normal life but because of how complicted his condition is and how intrinsic the operation will be, it is also quiet costly.

The operation will cost approximately £5,000 so we are aiming to raise £6,800 in case of any complications and aftercare needed for Rocco and to contriubute to the costr of the CT scans he has already had to get his diagnosis. If there is any money left after the op we will leave on the account at the specialist vets and ask them to pay it forward to another animal in need.

Because Rocco's condition is congenitcal, it is not covered by insurance so I am asking for help from the animal loving commmunity to get him the care he needs. Unfortunately, the alternate option for Rocco, if he can't have this operation, is euthanasia. It would not be fair to subject him to the rest of his life with urine burns and kidney infections and the constant stress of waking up in his own urine. He is an amazing dog with so much to offer and I am determined to do everything I can to help him.

Even if you can only donate a couple of pounds, I would be extremely grateful. Rocco has to be 5-6 months old to have his operation, so I am starting his fundraiser now in the hope we have enough time to raise the funds.
