Help My Bella Dog Recover
Hello friends, family, and maybe even strangers. My name is Henry and I am asking for support in helping my 4 year old Pitbull, get get some physical therapy to assist her in making a full recovery. Bella is my baby girl and she is the sweetest, lovable pup you’ll ever meet. My fiancé and I went on vacation for a few days and left Bella with our family baby sitter. When we returned home this past Monday (July 5th) we found Bella completely paralyzed in her rear legs.
I rushed her to the Puppy ER and the doctors were very concerned. It appears Bella has hurt her spine (Slipped discs) and has lost most of the feeling in her rear legs. She was unable to potty on her own and I had to physically push and assist her in using the bathroom.
The hardest part for our family is Bella’s demeanor has not changed. She is the same sweet, happy, energetic dog that she always has been. Even when I found her she wiggled her way to me with a huge smile. At the vet, the poor girl was trying to drag herself to the door when she heard all the other puppies on the other side. I guess she’s stubborn just like her old man.
The vet said a surgery could help her have a much better quality of life but the surgery is roughly 10,000. At the time, many people asked how they could support us during this time, and many people told us to start a go fund me. We considered starting one to raise money for her surgery.
I have never asked for anyone’s help like this in the past. My pride is too strong, but Bella is my baby girl, and seeing her like this is very hard on our family.
But there is HOPE!!!
Bella has begun wagging her tail again. She has deep pain sensation, meaning she can feel me squeeze her toes and even retracts her leg. Bella really amazed us. When Esther came home, Bella began wagging her tail and trying to run to mommy. She was able to get up on her hind legs, and attempt to walk. Just today, July 10th, Bella has began walking with the assistance of a special harness. She also has started getting the sensation to potty and is going on her own! We believe that Bella has the drive and heart to get through this without the surgery, but she’s going to need some help. I have found a chiropractor for dogs who also does therapy. She’s optimistic but it’s going to take time and money.
We are asking for some of your support! First and foremost your prayers. We are a faith filled family and are believing in a miracle, so please join us in prayer. Secondly, those of you who would like to contribute financially it would be a nice help for family during this recover process. The therapy sessions cost $90 a visit plus medication, vitamins, and supplies for home therapy. The doctor believes Bella has a good chance to recover but it’s going to take 1 or 2 months of weekly sessions and home therapy. So because some people asked to assist we started this go fund me. We are going to set the bar low and ask you to help us raise $1000 dollars for Bella’s therapy sessions and medicine. If we raise anything over our goal, we will use the money for Bella lovings. Treats, therapy toys etc.
For those of you who choose to support with prayers and/or donations, I can not thank you all enough! I’m a sucker for this pup and it breaks my heart to see her like this. Thank you all so much,
Henry, Esther, Roman and Harper.
