Please help BengBeng

Gail Louise Obado also known as BengBeng is a young girl from Philippines suffering from a very serious skin disease.

BengBeng was born healthy.
She was a very healthy little girl until her parents found something unusual from her skin when she was more than 1 year old. It just started with rashes and it’s getting worse as she grows older. They have been going to different hospitals and been seeing several doctors although it has been very difficult to get a diagnosis. At first, BengBeng was diagnosed to have itchyosis vulgaris which is an incurable skin disease, but lately, another hospital has diagnosed another skin disease called netherton syndrome.

BengBeng is now 8 years old, she is the second child of Louie Obado and Abigael. They have 3 children and the only one working is BengBeng’s father, since her mother, Abigael needs to look after their children.

With all the continuous check up, medications and other special needs for BengBeng, the family is hoping to seek help as the medical expenses are too much to bear for the family.

Despite all the pain, challenges and difficulties of life, this little girl BengBeng remains positive and keeping her faith with the Lord, she is cheerful all the time and brave.

As of the moment, BengBeng is studying at home. Her teacher often said that she’s a brilliant student. BengBeng’s education alone is costing her family 100 pesos per hour (Approx $3.50 AUD). BengBeng’s milk as prescribed by the doctors is Pediasure and is one of the most expensive milk (formula). BengBeng drinks milk 3-4 times a day but there are times that she can only drink once a day because the milk is expensive and her family would rather keep the money for her medication. BengBeng’s check up every month is costing her family 5,000 up to 10,000 pesos ($130-300 AUD). Her skin and eye maintenance treatments are also very expensive.

As of the moment the family is looking for assistance for BengBeng’s eye and skin maintenance. And praying that someday the family could bring BengBeng abroad to have another thorough check up.

Every penny counts and would surely bring a smile at BengBeng’s face.

Message from Organiser - My family has been in direct contact with the Obado family for approximately 2-3 years now. We originally came into contact via the social media network for skin disorders. We have been aware that BengBeng’s condition has been progressively deteriorating and we wanted to help relieve the financial medical burden for the family.
