Ari Escobar’s healing journey

In August 2023, our daughter Ari’s life was forever changed when she was struck by an uninsured driver. The accident left her with serious injuries to her cerebellum, spinal cord, neck, and back. What followed was a devastating diagnosis: due to the head trauma, Ari developed Arnold-Chiari Malformation, a condition that caused her cerebellum to swell and press against her spinal cord. This pressure forced spinal fluid into her spine, resulting in excruciating pain.

By late 2024, Ari’s symptoms had worsened significantly—she could no longer work, drive, or function normally. She experienced blurry vision, constant vomiting, debilitating migraines, and was forced into isolation in a dark room, unable to cope with the overwhelming pain. Desperate for relief, Ari underwent 35 steroid injections, two rounds of painful plasma replacement therapy, and migraine Botox treatments, but nothing provided lasting relief. The only option left was Chiari malformation decompression surgery, which offered her the hope of regaining a normal life.

Unfortunately, after the surgery, Ari’s recovery took a terrifying turn. Just 13 hours after returning home, she had to be rushed back to the ER due to severe facial swelling and fluid buildup at the incision site. She became lethargic, unresponsive, and barely able to walk. This setback forced her to spend another two days in the hospital, bringing her total stay to a full week—most of it in the ICU.

Now, Ari faces a long and uncertain recovery. She has no income, no insurance, and is burdened with around $50,000 in medical bills. This once-vibrant, adventurous young woman now needs your help to heal and rebuild her life.
