Ayúdame a escuchar por primera vez

Hola, mi nombre es Carolina Rojo y soy mamá de una niña maravillosa llamada Neylan Inés. Tiene apenas 2 años y es, sin duda, lo más hermoso y valioso que tengo en la vida. Hoy te quiero compartir nuestra historia, no para dar lástima, sino con la esperanza de que, tocando tu corazón, podamos cambiar el rumbo de su futuro.

Neylan nació sana, después de un embarazo tranquilo y lleno de ilusión. Desde pequeña fue risueña, observadora, y muy inteligente. Como madre soltera, tuve que trabajar y ella asistía a la guardería. Todo parecía marchar bien… hasta que empecé a notar que no reaccionaba cuando la llamaba por su nombre. No decía “mamá”, ni “agua”, ni las palabras que normalmente los bebés empiezan a decir a su edad.

Aunque muchos a mi alrededor me decían que “ya hablaría” y que “cada niño tiene su ritmo”, dentro de mí sentía que algo no estaba bien. Con miedo, pero también con determinación, decidí hacerle estudios para estar segura. En enero de 2025 recibimos la noticia que cambió nuestras vidas: Neylan fue diagnosticada con hipoacusia bilateral profunda. Es decir, no puede oír.

Recibir ese diagnóstico fue devastador. Como madre, sentí que el mundo se me venía abajo. Lloré, me quebré… pero luego entendí que no podía quedarme ahí. Que mi hija necesita más que nunca una mamá fuerte, que luche por darle la oportunidad de oír, de hablar, de comunicarse, de vivir plenamente.

Neylan necesita un implante coclear con urgencia para poder escuchar. Esta cirugía es costosa: alrededor de $750,000 a $800,000 pesos mexicanos, sin contar gastos médicos y honorarios. Como te imaginarás, es una cantidad inalcanzable para mí sola.

Por eso hoy estoy aquí, abriendo mi corazón, y pidiendo tu ayuda. Cada peso, cada aportación, cada gesto de solidaridad, nos acerca un paso más a devolverle a Neylan el sonido del mundo. Su risa, su voz, su primera palabra... están esperando nacer.

Hello, my name is Carolina Rojo and I’m the mother of a wonderful little girl named Neylan Inés.

She’s only 2 years old and without a doubt, she’s the most precious and beautiful part of my life.

Today, I want to share our story—not to seek pity, but with the hope that by touching your heart, we can change the course of her future.

Neylan was born healthy, after a calm pregnancy filled with excitement and dreams. Since she was a baby, she’s been cheerful, observant, and incredibly smart. As a single mom, I had to work, and she went to daycare. Everything seemed fine… until I started to notice that she wouldn’t respond when I called her name. She didn’t say “mama” or “water” or any of the words babies her age usually start to say.

Even though many people around me told me, “she’ll talk eventually” and “every child develops at their own pace,” deep inside, I felt something wasn’t right. With fear—but also determination—I decided to have her tested to be sure.

In January 2025, we received the diagnosis that changed our lives: Neylan was diagnosed with profound bilateral hearing loss. In other words, she cannot hear.

Receiving that diagnosis was heartbreaking. As a mother, I felt like my world was falling apart. I cried. I broke down… but then I realized I couldn’t stay there. My daughter needs me now more than ever—to be strong, to fight for her chance to hear, to speak, to connect, to live fully.

Neylan urgently needs a cochlear implant to be able to hear. This surgery is expensive: around $750,000 to $800,000 Mexican pesos (approximately $44,000 USD), not including medical expenses and professional fees. As you can imagine, this is an amount I simply cannot afford on my own.

That’s why I’m here today, opening my heart and asking for your help.

Every peso, every dollar, every act of kindness brings us closer to giving Neylan the gift of sound. Her laughter, her voice, her first word… they’re all waiting to be born.
