You Gotta Be Quick Around Here...
Time is of the essence.
It's been over 10 years since the last recording session dedicated to my own material. Since then I've moved from comfortable ol' San Francisco to shiny new Nashville.
I broke a 5 year moratorium on songwriting this past summer, when suddenly the music and lyrics started coming out of nowhere and forced me out of hiding. I did my first Nashville show last December - my first full set in 5 years. My life in Nashville is finally making sense.
My first Nashville recording session is booked for March 6th!
I'm now a de facto full time musician since I've been put on disability (another weird thing to write about, somehow) and spend all my time writing songs and raising my daughter while my wife ekes out a living in the public school system - to put it bluntly, we are kinda poor when it comes to wages.
Some of you have seen my YouTube videos or heard my SoundCloud posts, though to be fair they were really mostly warm-ups for what is to come - I've been nervous to jump out into the spotlight again.
A local songwriter-producer, Grammy award winner Scot Sax , has been listening and wants to cut an album. He's a simpatico guy and knows all the coolest musicians in East Nashville who will help make everything happen. He's also an ace videographer and we should be putting out something soon for you to look at that isn't just me wincing at a smartphone camera. In short, this is a real deal.
Contribute $15 and you will receive a signed copy of the CD along with a letter of appreciation. $40 and up gets you the CD plus a numbered limited edition silkscreen print based on the cover art, signed by the artists. $500 will get you a house concert (date to be determined based upon availability.) $500,000 will get you a house.
As a musician who has spent his whole creative life just trying to get his songs heard by appreciative audiences, your support in helping me put out my first "Nashville era" collection could really be a game changer. Think of it as a jump start. I do.
Here's a rough breakdown of expenses for the whole project:
Recording and talent $2000
Mastering $700
Pressing of CDs and covers $1500
So you see, this could be a tough road without your generous help. Please give, knowing that I'll be forever grateful and at your service. And the songs, I hope, will stick around too.
Your friend,
Patricio
Please also see my website and my Reverbnation page which I use to collect email list addresses. It would be great to hear from anybody who has read this far!
