Passing of Beloved Johnson City School Counselor

Traci Starr Honeycutt is a name well known to many students who have passed through the hallways of Liberty Bell Middle School and Science Hill High School. Traci was a school counselor in the Johnson City School System for many years. She worked to guide many students, ensuring their emotional, social, and physical well-being were being met. She selflessly gave of herself and time to help students at a moment's notice.

In April 2021, Traci began an arduous fight against COVID that left her in a coma for several weeks. Miraculously, she came through. In August 2021, she went back to work as a school counselor. During the 2021-2022 school year, she continued her work as a school counselor at LBMS. She was a shining example to all that we should never give up!

In Fall 2021, Traci began a new fight against cancer (multiple myeloma). She never let it stop her from working to take care of her kids, family, and students. She soldiered on. 

While Traci fought long and hard (as she has always done in every aspect of her life), sadly, she lost her battle and passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 4, 2022.

Traci was a fiercely devoted single mom and raised two exceptional children, Keaton and Kaden. The goal of this fundraiser is to help with all costs associated with Traci's long illness, funeral expenses, and whatever else may be needed for Keaton and Kaden.

Here in the Johnson City Schools, we are most certainly a family. As a family, we grieve for the loss of our sister and fellow educator. However, we must now move forward and help to take care of her family as she would do for any of us. We will also take the time to celebrate the many blessings we have all received through our association and friendships with Traci.
