Pam Rodriguez was diagnosed in July with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Pam has always been an extremely healthy person who takes care of her body and pushes herself physically and mentally to conquer new challenges. Pam is a wife to the love of her life, Nik; she is a loving mom to Brittany, Devyn and Hannah and a dear sister to Leigh Ann.
Some people know her as a friend, a talented hair stylist, a business owner, an ultrarunner, a gifted writer, a thrill seeker, and now a Breast Cancer Warrior. Pam is my hair stylist, but more importantly she is my friend. She is warm, kind, honest and genuine. Pam is a private person and independent person and never asks anyone for help, however Pam needs our help now.
As small business owners, both Pam and Nik had to temporarily close their businesses in March due to Covid. Although they had done all the right things by saving, this still had a huge impact on them financially with rent to pay on two businesses on top of their own personal living expenses with no income coming in for months. When they both finally were allowed to re-open their businesses, they thought the worst was behind them and then Pam was diagnosed with breast cancer, or as Pam says, "WE were diagnosed with breast cancer," as her entire family is in this fight together. Due to her diagnosis and aggressive treatment plan, Pam had to close her salon. Since Pam and Nik are small business owners, they are self insured, which means high monthly premiums; high deductibles and high copays. Just one of Pam's chemo treatments is $25,000 and she has a $10,000 deductible. Pam is on her third 8 hour session of Chemo and is scheduled to have three more rounds. She will then undergo a bilateral mastectomy and a hysterectomy at the end of the year followed by more chemo until August 2021. You can see how fast the medical bills add up.
Pam and her family are very grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support they have received by so many people. The Meal Train has been a big help and will continue, but Pam also needs financial assistance to help pay the mounting medical bills. If you are able, please consider making a donation to Pam's Go Fund Me. Please share Pam's Go Fund Me with others that know Pam and her family that may not be on Facebook, or maybe someone they don't know that just likes to help others during their time of need. Any amount, large or small, will help.
Thank you for your generosity and helping our mutual friend, Pam Rodriguez!
