Our Warrior, Diane

Thank you for taking the time to visit our fundraising page. This is especially created for a good friend who is also a wife, mother, and grandmother, Diane. She is the rock of her family, the glue. She is smart, kind, hardworking, and selfless. She always puts her family first, even now with what she is going through.

Diane was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer after a routine mammogram and biopsy. She underwent lumpectomy and lymph node removal on July 7th and subsequently started chemotherapy. Although her cancer was found early, the type of cancer she was diagnosed with is very aggressive and needs to be treated as such.

Diane requires 8 rounds of chemo to be followed by 20 sessions of radiation. The side effects of chemo have taken a toll on her health and the cost of medications to help treat those side effects is exorbitant.

In addition, her husband has been disabled since he was 29 years old so Diane was the one working to keep the bills and rent paid, etc. After round 5 of chemo she developed a severe UTI and became septic causing her to be hospitalized. It has become extremely hard for her to keep working. She suffers from fatigue and weakness daily on top of all other side effects from treatment.

Furthermore, the cost of tolls and gas is hard as well since doctors at Sloan are either in NYC or NJ. God willing she is strong enough to complete the last 3 rounds of chemo, she will then have 20 rounds of radiation. That will be an expensive travel cost because that will be in NJ 5 days a week for 4 weeks.
