Our Beautiful friend Iris
Donation protected
Hello friends, family and the wider community. We are fundraising on behalf our beautiful friend Iris Schomacker. On the 6th of October, Iris was taken to hospital after friends noticed some significant behavioural changes in Iris. Following scans revealed a mass on her brain, 6.5cm x 4.3 cm, which was partially removed in surgery within the week. Unfortunately, further testing on the mass has revealed that this is a glioblastoma grade 4 cancer. In short, it is a terminal diagnosis with an average survival time of 12-18 months.
This is a devastating outcome! For her, her 16 year old son Jackson, her friends and her family. Anyone who knows Iris, knows what a generous, selfless person she is, always willing to help others in anyway she can, especially financially. She is a "salt of the earth" person. Iris is the type of person who would give you the shirt off her back, she is loud, her laugh is infectious, she's thoughtful, loving and honestly one of the strongest women we know. She has struggled through life, over coming breast cancer and the struggle to raise her son Jackson, who is neurodivergent, as a single parent.
The treatment required will put Iris in a position where she will be unable to work indefinitely. 6 weeks of daily radiation along with 6 to 12 months of chemo. This will hopefully buy her enough time to get her son Jackson to a level where he can care for himself. During this time, Iris needs to cover the balance of her treatment, rent, bills and food.
It is now Iris that needs our help and we would love to help at least take that stress off her while she recovers from her brain surgery and undertakes radiation and chemotherapy. We thank you in advance and would love you to share this far and wide. So, we ask, even if you dont know Iris, skip a take away coffee for a few days and hit donate. You'll be helping someone who deserves a hand because if the shoe was on the other foot, she would be one of the first to help you. Kindest regards xx
