He lost his fight with cancer -one last play for Ray

Community Support Request – In Memory of Coach Raymond Cabarris

With heavy hearts, we share the loss of Coach Raymond “Ray” Cabarris, coach at Detroit Southwestern High School, Central Michigan University and Roseville High School who passed away on July 18th, 2025. Ray was hospitalized on Tuesday, July 8th, battling cancer during a time when the hospital was impacted by an ongoing strike. No amount of time would ever be enough to prepare for such a loss.

Ray was more than a coach—he was a father, brother, uncle, father-figure, a mentor, and a steady presence in the lives of so many. He was known for his leadership, integrity, and the care he poured into his community, both on and off the field.

We recently learned that our father had no life insurance or burial arrangements in place. As we work to honor his legacy with the dignity he deserves, we are asking for the community’s support to help cover funeral and burial expenses.

We are seeking to raise $25,000 to support:

- Funeral and burial arrangements

- Memorial service costs

- Assistance for the family during this difficult time
