Officer Chastain’s Fearless Fight

Randy Chastain knew from a young age that he wanted to become a public servant. Randy joined the Air Force at the age of 18, where he served as an MP (military police) officer. Becoming a 2nd generation police officer in the Chastain Family. Once he left the Air Force, he continued to serve and protect his country and people for 38 more years as a Sergeant.

In 2007, Sergeant Chastain was diagnosed with both stomach and liver cancer called GIST (gastrointestinal stromal tumor). This is a very uncommon type of cancer, with no cure and only about a 5-year survival rate. Never once during these hard times, has Randy ever asked for anything from anyone. He has always stood tall, kept to his principle’s and always thought of others first. Unfortunately for him, in 2016 his life’s passion was stripped away by his illness and he was forced into retirement. Randy has been fighting his illness with all his willpower. Somehow 14 years later after 15 surgeries and procedures along with daily chemotherapy, he is still blessed to be on this earth with his family and friends.

It is not until now, that he needs our help. The trial medicines that have been slowing the cancer and keeping this amazing man alive, have sadly progressed his diagnoses with another irreversible disease called Alzheimer’s. Doctors believe that Randy’s Alzheimer’s is progressing faster than most, due to his cancer drugs. Randy’s Alzheimer’s has done some major damage in such a short time. Where the cancer is slowly destroying his body, his newly diagnosed Alzheimer’s is quickly destroying his mind and making it difficult for him to complete even the simplest ever day task.

Officer Chastain is truly an honorable man. He has spent his lifetime, putting the lives of others before himself. He even expressed to his doctors when they said they were searching for a cure, “Do not find one for me. Find one for the children first.” Honor deserves dignity. Let us honor Randy by providing him some dignity in his life when he needs it the most. Randy’s wife needs our help to find and finance a full-time caregiver to watch over and care for this Angel of a man. Randy has always believed and said, “You just do the right thing, because it is the right thing to do and for no other reason.” Alzheimer’s is winning over Randy’s mind, but his heart will never be defeated. Please help me do the right thing, because it is the right thing to do and for no other reason and support his cause.
