Brent is suffering from Hepatic Encephalopathy (HE), Nephrotic Symdrome and End Stage Renal Disease caused by Hepatits C that he contracted as a child. He is currently on the Liver and Kidney Transplant list with Henry Ford Medical Center in Detroit, MI and is very close to getting his transplant. We have been told it could happen as early as six months from now. In the meantime, we have hit the Medicare Coverage Gap (Donut hole) with his HE medication. This medication keeps his ammonia level in check and is the only medication that he can take. Without his meds, his ammonia level rises - his mental state decreases to the point where he cannot function, walk, talk or see. If the ammonia level gets too high, he could go into a coma.
