A home for our family
Donazione protetta
On February 13 we lost our place to live. We moved into a hotel awaiting our tax return to save the day. Borrowed money from anyone that would help. We carried on as normal as possible. Sending our 4 children to school and going to work everyday. While seeing house after house that we were eventually denied. We finally got our tax return on February 25. And filled out application after application for houses and apartments all were denied. Our credit is bad so no one is willing to rent to us. Now the virus is disrupting everyone’s life. Property owners are canceling open houses. We can’t work. No school. It’s been a month since we got our tax return and we are almost out of money. We did reach out to our church, but they were only able to help us short term. We called United Way and the Community Housing Network. They sent us a list of low income housing properties. Unfortunately, 90% of them are set up for low income seniors and the others have a waitlist from 1 year to 14 years. So all six of us are “quarantined” to a small hotel room. I know that there are so many people who are effected by what’s going on. But I’m at a point where I have no where else to turn. Facing homelessness at anytime is scary, but at a such an unprecedented time, I’m living my worst nightmare. While I keep reminding my kids that there are so many people that are suffering much harder circumstances, I am honestly scared. Pride and shame are out the window.
