Nestled in the heart of Vietnam, Khanh Vinh is a mountainous province embodying resilience in the face of hardship. This fundraiser is a dedication to the tenacious souls residing there.

In Khanh Vinh, the majority of residents belong to ethnic minorities. Additionally, residents face economic challenges compounded by the region's mountainous terrain and educational disparities. You can read more about the people of Khanh Vinh and the challenges they face here.

Why I'm fundraising

As we welcome the Year of the Dragon, we are reminded of the values that Lunar New Year represents – a time for renewal, prosperity, and the coming together of families. Inspired by this, my family and I are embarking on a journey to prepare and distribute 100 portions of wholesome, traditional Vietnamese meals to the community of Khanh Vinh on January 13, 2024. This initiative extends beyond nourishment; it's a festive celebration of the ties that bind us, particularly as the Lunar New Year draws near.

Our family is covering all the costs associated with preparing and distributing the meals, so that every penny you donate will go directly to the families of Khanh Vinh.

We have also donated meals in the past, most recently preparing and donating 200 meals for the elderly in my grandfather's hometown of Nha Trang in his honor.

Consider the tangible effects: in Vietnam, a simple meal at a casual eatery costs just $2-3, while a dozen eggs or a pound of chicken can be acquired for less than $2 or $3. Many families in Khanh Vinh manage their monthly grocery expenses on significantly less than the average of $100 to $150 for a family of four. Your contribution, no matter the size, becomes a catalyst for positive change in their lives.
