Nourish Rhode Island: Join a Fight Against Hunger

In Rhode Island, a profound battle is being waged against hunger, a struggle that affects many in our community and beyond. The "Nourish Rhode Island" fundraiser, an initiative by Good Karma, is a direct and potent response to this pressing challenge. Our mission is simple yet impactful: to fund essential nourishment to those in need, and in doing so, bring hope, relief, and energy to our community.

The stark reality of hunger is closer to home than many realize. Across our nation and within our state, countless individuals and families face the uncertainty of their next meal. Approximately 10% of Rhode Islanders (circa 110,000 people) live in poverty, resulting in these people having difficulties securing needs as basic as sufficient food and nourishment [U.S. Census Bureau]. For people in this situation, when Rhode Island's community food banks (nonprofit organizations which take food and monetary donations for the purpose of distributing food to those in need) cannot supply them with nourishment, they may not eat at all. This fundraiser is a call to action, an opportunity for you to be a part of a solution that not only feeds but also empowers.

Our goal is ambitious but achievable: to raise $12,000 over the next three months, starting with a target of $1,200 by the end of January 2024. With these funds, we aim to provide crucial financial support to local food banks, directly translating your donations into meals for those who need them the most.

How will funds be donated?

The funds will be donated to our community partners, the Rhode Island Center Assisting Those in Need (RICAN) and the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Campaign expenses of approximately 3.9% will be deducted from donated funds, including GoFundMe's fees.
