Nolan’s battle against Leukaemia ❤️

December 11th, 2022- the day we found out Nolan has JMML leukaemia.

Our world was turned upside down, not knowing what was going to happen or what we were going to do moving forward. Our family came together- some of us travelling 4000km to be home with Nolan.

With great help from Toronto Sick Kids hospital, many appointments, bloodwork, conference calls, visits, we have been able to make a plan moving forward for Nolan.

December 21st is the day Nolan had his PICC line surgery- and the brave boy did just great!

His chemo treatments are set to begin December 28th, 7 days of chemo, 3 weeks of rest/recovery, which will repeat again as they monitor his cell counts. We were told today that Nolan’s road to recovery can be expected to take at least a year. Chemotherapy will be followed by a bone marrow transplant.

Nolan is a determined little boy and we know he will do amazing along his journey. There will be tears, there will be smiles, there will be pain and there will be love. Nolan will be taking on this challenge with full support from his parents- Derek and Courtney. They will be together day in and day out, making sure Nolan gets the care he needs. With Derek and Courtney being away from work for this extended period of time, the bills and life will still continue to come.

Nolan will need his parents more than anything, whether it’s holding moms hand while he’s laying on the hospital bed, or being snuggled in dads arms because dad squeezes just a little tighter.
