Healing for Doug

As most of you know, Doug suddenly began having complex focal seizures in his temporal lobe in August. He had almost complete amnesia. He is currently on anti seizure medication and has still been having breakthrough seizures. His memory loss is improving, but the side effects of the meds and not being able to drive and do normal things that he loves have greatly impacted his life. We have been introduced to a safe, new and effective treatment for Doug called neurofeedback. It's a machine that mirrors the electromagnetic activity to the brain, and retrains the brain how to heal itself. Both of his doctors are very excited about the science surrounding this treatment and the hope that it brings. This neuroptimal system has shown to be 90% effective in completely stopping seizures without medicine. It is not yet FDA approved, but has had over 3 million hours of use, has no side effects, and is completely safe. It also has shown to help with sleep, reduce side effects while on medication and heals the brain in many other ways. It is the best option for completely healing Doug we can find, and we are asking for help to get him not just back to "normal", but better than he was before. He has already begun these treatments, but only has access to them once a week, and needs them every day.
The plan is to stay on meds while starting this treatment for several months and eventually wean him off as he continues to improve on this machine. He will continue under the care of his neurologist as she is totally excited about this possibility. He is also starting tai chi training to continue reaching for whole body and mind healing. He eventually desires to run another marathon and return to the active lifestyle that makes his heart come alive.
