A family through surrogacy

Joel and I have been together for 10 years and have always shared the dream of wanting our own family. Once we were married and made our life in Australia permanent, we started to look at the many different ways that we could start this journey and have since spent several years navigating the difficult systems to work out what would be best for all involved.

We embarked on the surrogacy journey 4 years ago and have been met with multiple setbacks due to difficult system structures, limited access to IVF treatment as a same sex couple creating financial stress, changes in personal circumstances and, unfortunately having suffered our own personal loss along the way.

We have however remained determined on our goal and have been working and saving towards this dream continually.

With another surrogacy option having been made available to us we are looking towards the future and hoping that we can achieve this in the next couple of years. However, even with our savings and refinancing our house the amount is immense. The list of expenses is a long one and somewhat overwhelming when we think about it. BUT, this is a guaranteed option for us to both realise our dreams of being parents together and raising a very much loved child.

The money raised by this fundraiser will help to cover the costs associated with the surrogacy (Drs, IUI treatments, counselling, lawyers fees, hospital insurances) as well as all safety and wellness concerns for the surrogate and child.
