Our beautiful son, Nikita, has already endured more in his first year of life than most people do in a lifetime. After months of dismissed concerns and misdiagnosis, he was diagnosed at 4 months old with an extremely rare brain tumour in December 2024. His tumour, HGNET BCOR EXON15 ITD, is so rare that only 35 children worldwide have ever been recorded, with Nikita being the youngest.
Since then, he has bravely undergone multiple surgeries and 7 months of intensive chemotherapy, which successfully reduced his tumour burden. Now, we are preparing for the next critical step: radiation therapy. While radiation offers hope of long-term control, it will unfortunately leave Nikita with permanent challenges to swallowing, speech, and mobility.
We are fundraising to support the care and therapies Nikita will urgently need alongside hospital treatment, including:
• Private allied health therapies: physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech
• Specialist feeding and medical equipment to support his safety and growth
• Hearing interventions for total hearing loss in his right ear
• Nutritional and alternative supports to aid healing and recovery
• Long-term rehabilitation programs to give him the best possible chance at independence
• Financial relief for our family, enabling us to focus fully on Nikita’s care
Chemotherapy was a vital step, but radiation marks only the beginning of Nikita’s long rehabilitation journey. Public services cannot meet the full scope of his needs, and the cost of providing him the best chance at recovery is far greater than we can manage alone.
We are determined to give Nikita every opportunity for a full and meaningful life. If you are able to support us—whether through a donation or simply sharing our story—we are deeply grateful.
Thank you for believing in Nikita, and in our family’s fight to give him the future he deserves.
With love and hope,
Nik & Trish
