REPLACE STOLEN EQUIPMENT

As many of you know Ruth's House is the first ethnocultural domestic violence shelter in Calgary serving the African community. Since their launch last year February, they have provided services and resources to over 3500 members of the community who were seeking help and emergency shelter. They also provided emergency shelter to over 40 individuals and families fleeing domestic violence.

Recently Ruth's House moved into its new office location and was broken into last week. Thieves stole valuables, including laptops.

These laptops are password protected and do not contain client data. But as a precaution, they have changed all passwords used to access their systems. Client information remains private and protected.

Ruth's House needs to replace the stolen office equipment to operate and function and without it, they are limited in the services and programs they can offer our community. Our community relies on Ruth's House to provide African cultural services to families in crisis.

Ruth's House does not have an Operating Fund and has relied on the generosity of community members through donations, grants and sponsorship to operate since it launched.
