Hi guys, as most of you know, my name is Amie. My fiancé Dave and I, have been together for over four years. To be honest, it’s been the best four years of my life, and I couldn’t ask for a better person to walk through life with. It’s not everyday that you find your best friend and the love of your life all within the same person. He’s also filled the role as a father figure to my amazing daughter Brielle. And when I say that she absolutely adores him, is a huge understatement. On Christmas he asked me to marry him and of course I said yes! But it wasn’t long afterwards that our lives have been turned upside down and forever altered.

On April 5, 2023 Dave suffered a hemorrhagic stroke/massive brain bleed and required emergency surgery. The next 5 days were the scariest moments I’ve ever faced in my life. At that moment I was unsure of any future plans of ours. “Will he remember me? Will he be able to talk? Will he be able to walk ever again? What am I going to tell Brielle and his children? Is it normal for him to have not woken up yet?” All questions I was driving myself crazy with, just to know the answer to. Not having any answers was absolutely killing me. He did end up waking up, and when I realized he remembered me, you would’ve thought I won the lottery. Nothing else at that moment mattered.

However for him, his journey was just beginning. He had a huge portion of his skull removed in order to get the surgery (which still hasn’t been replaced) From Crozer hospital, he went to Taylor Rehabilitation center, and the staff there are absolutely angels on earth. With a lot of hard work from both the staff and Dave, they were able to get him walking again. He still has trouble getting around, and is required to wear a helmet when doing so. He also hasn’t regained strength in his left arm and hand, but things take time. And hopefully we’ll get there one day.

As you know, life keeps coming even when you’re at your lowest. Our two income household, is now down to just me, and it’s finally beginning to become overwhelming. Unfortunately the disability process is taking way longer than expected and I’m not sure how much longer we can keep going on my income alone. I’ve went back and forth with myself on what to do, and sadly the only option I could come up with, was to ask for help.

So with my pride aside, I’m asking for help. I can’t keep up with everyday expenses and bills if the disability office continues to take as long as it has been. Anything at all is greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read our story ♥️
