Nature Trail Restoration Eagle Scout Project

Hi all,

 

My name is Holden, and I'm a stone's throw away from earning the rank of Eagle Scout. My project will benefit a local elementary school in my community.

 

The goal of my project is to restore a short nature trail behind the school. It has been disused for at least ten years. The trail is covered with deadfall, a few fallen trees, and piles of rotten wood and chainlink fence off to the side. Furthermore, there are two wooden former outdoor classrooms that have rotten beyond repair. The trail in its current state is not usable nor is it safe.

 

My project will be to go in and clear all of the deadfall and garbage and to remove the unusable outdoor classrooms. Additionally, I will likely be adding signage that can be adapted by teachers so the trail can fit various educational needs. The school would also like to open this as a public resource promoting personal fitness. Any leftover funding will be given to the school's foundation for further improvements that they wish to make in the future.
