Let me introduce you to two extremely talented young boys Logan and Nathan. Nathan and Logan attend GMA (Goulding Martial Arts) six days a week for a grueling training session of up to 4 hours a day to perfect their skill at Kick boxing and Mixed Martial Arts.
Nathan began his journey at 5 years old, he was a shy child with little confidence. He was clumsy , had little co-ordination and found mixing in social setting challenging. As his parents we decided that he needed a sport to help build relationships and self confidence, He worked tirelessly to develop the simple skills of basic moves and fell over more times in 45 minute lesson than we could count, however his determination to get things right shone through to all that met him. Nathan then started to be skilled enough to attend competitions and whilst not always winning medals he persevered and supported his team mates. His journey has not always been easy and he was recently diagnosed with dyspraxia, hypermobility and Asphergers. His occupational therapist was stunned that he could perform complicated Karate Kata but could not ride a bike or at that point tie his own shoe laces. This was all down to his determination and developed confidence. To date Nathan has achieved many fantastic results within Kickboxing , he has become the clubs youngest Black belt and is about to take his 2nd Dan. He has become European WMO gold winner in his weight category , placed at English championships for the past three years including the fantastic opportunity of being selected to join the team representing England in Niagara Falls this November 2019.
Logan stared his journey supporting his brother from being 8 weeks old. Logan had to wait until his 4th birthday to start his official training within Gouldings Martial Arts. This was not for the want of trying as he would try to sneak onto the Dojo until he was spotted. Logan is a natural talent fast and curious, wanting to learn the moves from the films and using his friends and sparring partners to develop this skill. He went to his first competition at 4 years old , a brave boy when the other fighters were 6 years old. He stood his ground and his thirst for competition exposure increased thereafter. He adores his older brother Nathan and copies him when perfecting his movement. He is always keen to help others in the club and has recently due to his dedication and helpful persona been asked to be a class assistant to encourage those around him to do well and be a role model to his peers. This year has seen his confidence develop as his experience increased, he has won gold in the Lordswood Combat tri series under 6 years in both points and continuous, with the opportunity to represent England in WKU and again winning gold in both categories in the ISO Championships. He then qualified again with his brother Nathan to represent team England in Niagara Falls this November 2019
This aside not only are they kind, humble, polite boys who are both doing well at school, but they also help the homeless in both Manchester and Bolton donating their pocket money to buying food for people they meet and in Nathans case food for animals who support the homeless. They went out last Christmas eve with their collections of clothes, toiletries and sleeping bags and distributed them, talking to the homeless and listening to their stories. They are truly selfless exceptional children.
Kickboxing is self funded by parents and as you can imagine this is a huge expense, as parents we would love to give the boys the opportunity to represent their sport at a young age and help them achieve success. Giving them the opportunity to be role models to others in their community. Any donations you can give will help us with paying for them to attend the three training camps helping them develop to win against the most talented in the world. The flights and accommodation for the boys, England uniform and sparing equipment to be safe and legal and the all important insurance.
Thank you for reading this and supporting these two great boys. Your help and support is very much appreciated. To help us get this message out far and wide please share and help their dreams come true.
Thank you again
Two very proud parents
