Hi everyone, my name is Kelvin. For the last 6 years, I have passionately run a YouTube channel where I share my love for
music, Netflix shows, and anything else that I love (Mainly centred around Korean entertainment). I have been blessed enough to support myself with this thanks to my community.
Never in my life did I expect to be in a situation like this where I need to ask for help, but following a recent event, now I’m desperate.
A week ago, I was the victim of an armed home robbery and was held at knife point by a group of individuals with machetes. They took everything from me: my car, my phone, all of my filming equipment, my computer, and my hard drives with years of videos on them. They stole my livelihood.
To make matters worse, this all happened as I was facing difficulty trying to find a new place to move into. I’d been working hard to keep myself afloat, and was staying optimistic. But with the robbers still out there, I now fear for my life. I don’t have a safe home to return to, and am now staying on a friend’s couch.
This event has left me shattered, and helpless on two fronts:
I lost my home: I need to find a new, safe rental quickly, but the financial losses of the robbery have left me completely drained of any ability to do so.
I lost my livelihood and my passion: Creating YouTube videos has been the best thing to ever happen to me. Losing all of the equipment that I had saved up to buy to follow this dream is crushing. Without my equipment I cannot film, edit or upload, meaning I can’t even help myself get back on my feet.
How You Can Help
I am hoping to raise $15,000 to help me restart. Here is exactly where the money will go:
• Housing Security: Covering the rental bond and first month's rent plus aiding any negotiations I need to make for a safe place to live and work.
• Essential Gear: Replacing my camera, computer, and other filming equipment so that I can get back to work immediately.
Any amount you can spare would be incredibly appreciated, as it will get me one step closer to having a roof over my head and getting back to doing what I love.
If you can't donate, please consider sharing this link. Thank you so much for your support during this tough time.
With gratitude,
Kelvin
