Support a single mom's holistic cancer-care experiment

So a couple of months ago I received a cancer diagnosis. Colon cancer, Stage Two. I'm 54, an underemployed single parent of teenagers. That means I'm just getting close to a new phase of life as they are going to university. I have so many plans! My intention has been to start a non-profit, with a free or low-cost clinic, holistic health learning centre, and community gardens.

I'm a holistic practitioner myself (as well as an author and an organic master gardener). I hoped that I would be able to find a good complementary healthcare team to work with an oncologist, because I know that approach has by far the best results. But it turns out, in my remote region of Canada, there is no oncologist available to work with me! Forget about integrated care!

But I have a lot of knowledge. And I'm good at researching. And I've reached out to colleagues to advise me further. And so it happens that I'm enacting a protocol created by me, with many moving parts: diet, herbs, supplements, homeopathy, hyperthermia, qigong, and more. I am very optimistic! Each week I add another piece. So far (6 weeks in) I'm feeling a little better. I am inspired to retest in several months...

I feel this is a remarkable challenge and an opportunity to try out therapies which people usually don't try until AFTER they've had conventional medical care. I have to do it all out-of-pocket which is really hard. I'm selling off almost everything I own to try to make it work. And as a writer, I've begun the journal which will one day be published to help others find their way with holistic therapies (and maybe it will give them some laughs and some tears too).
