Mt. Baker Coop Preschool Pandemic Recovery

Tax deductible
Mt. Baker Coop Preschool has been hit hard by the Pandemic. We are now reaching out to the community for support through various fundraisers this year. We are hoping this GoFundMe can jump start our year and save our Preschool! MBCP is a community asset worth fighting for! Please donate if you can!

Mt Baker Coop Preschool was founded 15 years ago by a group of parents with a vision, a passion and drive to provide a unique Preschool experience to a community that was in desperate need of Early Education Resources.

Through hard work a Community was established and has been passed down to generation after generation of like minded parents wanting to be active in their child’s education, development and community. Our little Preschool became something beyond what the founder’s imagined it could be. It became an asset to the community that lacked resources.

Our Preschool thrived for years. Our enrollment multiplied- we expanded our classes, we made room for those who wanted to be a part of our Preschool. We managed waitlists, we offered support to families in any way we could until they could be placed. This all being managed by a Volunteer Board of Parents.

In March of 2020, like so many other businesses and educational institutes, we were shut down by the Pandemic. It was soul crushing to be in the classroom with students one day, and close our doors the next. Trying to make up for the loss over Zoom, making connections with our students through the mail, hosting a drive thru Preschool Graduation. It was not the vision we had for those students in their last years before entering Elementary School, but we did what we could.

We made adjustments to reopen the following year. We registered families. We had a plan. Then, more requirements than we could manage as a Cooperative Preschool were passed. We had to close our doors for another school year.

2021 came and things seemed to be getting better. Requirements were getting easier, families were ready to come back! Again, we created a budget we could manage, we enrolled families. We had a solid plan this time, nothing could stop us.

Hello, Delta. Hello, new mandates. Hello, another year that did not go as planned. Now at this time, we can not close our doors for another year. If we do, we are not sure we have the ability to come back.

Our community can not lose this asset- this unique educational experience that generations of families have thrived through. Lifelong friendships have been established within our walls, and we need to be able to move forward through this Pandemic.

We are a non-profit organization that has operated on a bare bones budget for years. We offer a unique, affordable and valuable educational experience to a community of families who otherwise may not have Preschool access at all. Please support us in building back to where we used to be so we are able to continue building our Community stronger, starting with our youngest community members- our children.

If you have any personal experience with Mt. Baker Coop Preschool please look back on your time with us and assess on whether you are now in a position to help us. If you are unable to offer financial support, please share the experience you have had with us, and get the word out that now more than ever we need support!

By donating to this fundraiser you will be providing valuable resources to support Social Emotional, Literacy, Mathematics, STEM and Community in the classroom. All funds will go toward balancing our budget and covering Overhead costs required to open our doors, classroom supplies, and required PPE.

We are a registered 501c3 and all donations are tax deductable.
