Support In Loving Memory of Garth Gariepy Family Expenses

My name is Matthew Gariepy, and I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my mother, Tammy Gariepy.

Seven weeks ago, our world was turned upside down when my father, Garth Gariepy, was airlifted to a Saskatoon hospital and given just five days to live. His heart was failing, functioning at only 15% capacity, which led to kidney failure and fluid buildup, including in his lungs. We prepared to say goodbye, but in a miraculous turn of events, my father began to improve. His kidneys started working again, and he made an incredible recovery.

After spending two weeks in the CCU in Saskatoon, he was transferred to a cardiac ward for another three weeks. During this time, he walked laps around the ward—each lap was 362 steps—sometimes doing this a couple of times a day. His determination to get stronger and return home was truly remarkable. Surprisingly, he was discharged on February 28th from RUH. Unfortunately, his body wasn’t strong enough to stay home. Just 24 hours later, he was admitted to the Lloydminster hospital, where he was diagnosed with influenza A and pneumonia. His heart and body could no longer fight off these illnesses.

On Tuesday, March 4th, my father was sedated and placed on life support before being airlifted once again to Saskatoon. Sadly, on Friday, March 7th, Garth passed away, surrounded by loved ones with my mother by his side.

Garth’s health struggles began on June 28th, 2024, when he suffered a stroke. In September, he was diagnosed with heart failure, and between then and March 2025, he endured numerous doctor’s appointments and hospital stays, often lasting weeks at a time. For months, he was unable to provide for his family.

We are now seeking donations to help cover funeral expenses and to support my mother, Tammy, as she faces this incredibly difficult time. Your generosity will allow her to take time off work to grieve without the added stress of financial burdens.
