Moi & Friedreich's Ataxia: Fund Cocoa's Service Dog Training
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Moira Asbury. I'm 25 years old. When I was 11 years old, I was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia (FA).
FA is an extremely rare, life-threatening, degenerative disease that has slowly taken away my ability to walk, while also affecting my coordination, balance, spine, and heart, among many other things. I am now wheelchair-bound, and there is still no cure for FA.
I am fundraising because my husband and I recently rescued our Lab mix, Cocoa, from Animal Control. Cocoa is 6 months old.
Getting Cocoa trained as a service dog would greatly benefit me, as my hope is to train her in item retrieval, opening doors/hitting light switches, pressing handicapped buttons, and assisting with transfers in and out of my wheelchair - and that is just the beginning.
However, this kind of training is costly, and I would appreciate any financial assistance throughout this new journey.
Any donation is appreciated, but sharing this fundraiser and praying for miracles in my life is just as valuable to me.
Thank you so much in advance!
