On Sunday, June 11th at 3:30am, Mike Stel had woken up to a couple loud pops. When he went to investigate he found his garage engulfed in flames. He immediately called 911, grabbed his dog and was lucky enough to escape the house with only the clothes he was wearing.

Mike lost his house, his vehicles and everything he had in a horrific fire. The house was burned beyond recognition. The Cross Plains Fire Department said the fire was in both the home and garage and caused major structural damage. Over 25 different departments and agencies were on the scene.

Mike had insurance, but insurance doesn't cover all he has lost. In a matter of minutes, Mike's life has been turned upside down, leaving him with no home and not so much as a vehicle so he can get to work.

Mike works for the United States Postal Service here in Cross Plains. He works hard and never complains about the work that he does. He is always willing to go above and beyond for not only the community he serves, but his fellow employee's as well. Mike is the kind of person that is always willing to lend a hand, the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back.

I started this in hopes that we, as a community could come together and help give something back to Mike.

So please, if you could find it in your heart to donate any amount, large or small to help him get back on his feet, he would be forever grateful.
