Medical Bills & Essential Items

Hi, I'm Caitlin Whalen. I have stage 4 & 5 on the diagnostic for Lupus Nephritis per biopsy performed on March 6th 2022 as part just 1 of the stays at Memorial Hospital here in Savannah, GA. I am raising money to help towards living through the start of an intensive immunosuppressive treatment in order to prevent complete renal failure. All proceeds raised will contribute to but not limited to all Out-of-Pocket Cost including; Doctors Visits, Lab Fees, Prescription Medications, Essential Items, Rent, Food, Gas and any item/situation/or bill that is deemed genuine towards my recovery.

In the month of March I had 2 hospital stays along with an ambulance ride. March 3rd-7th, 14th-22nd upon leaving the hospital the amount of out-of-pocket medical bills makes the cost of living unaffordable. In just March and these few days of April my spent family has spent well over $5,000.00+ to ensure a good chance at a a long survival of this disease. We have a pending case with SSI for Medicaid however until approval all cost still remain Out-of-Pocket.

I do not have the luxury of health insurance and I haven't been able to work since August 2020 due to the slow failing of my kidneys as discovered this past month. As mentioned above I have Lupus SLE, Lupus Nephritis, and several other chronic conditions. I contracted sepsis, which caused my bladder to fail & a catheter was used for several weeks, we treated my kidneys along with my lungs which were starting to collapse with a harsh around the clock steroid treatment. I'd also like to thank the amazing doctors and nurses whom saved my life. I am now on an immunosuppressive treatment including the medications called Cellcept & Benlysta. I keep eating a ton of food, my mom hasn't been able to return to work due to how weak i've been. As Joe Exotic says " I will never financially from this." I am just asking for support to stay comfortable as I make it through these changes in life.
