We are setting up this fund as a community to purchase and deliver meals for our medical staff and first responders that are on duty at Flushing Hospital in Flushing, NY. Dr. Michelle Hernandez, a third year resident, will be receiving the funds, ordering the food and arranging for delivery.
As we all know, there are currently over 5,151 cases of COVID-19 in the NYC area. Our hospitals are nearing capacity, and every day there are more and more ill showing up at our emergency rooms. This is a pandemic that none of us have seen in our lives, and first responders need our continued support.
Flushing Hospital is a community hospital in Queens NY, predominantly serving an economically disadvantaged and immigrant population. They are seeing an ever increasing number of COVID cases and are whole-heartedly putting their all to combat this virus. Residents, nurses and ancillary staff are working around the clock to ensure the health of the ill and to prevent continued spread; they are away from their families and putting their lives at risk for the better good of the community.
With your support, we may be able to provide them with a little reprieve from the every day stress. Please consider donating, however small it may be, so that we may at least provide a boost in morale for everyone on the front-lines of this pandemic.
Note, this is not a fundraiser started by Flushing Hospital, but by a group of individuals that care about all of the staff there. All funds raised will go to helping the staff at the medical center.
Thank you.
