Matthew Giblin Memorial Fund

Matt Giblin, loving father, loyal friend, dedicated cook, and kind soul, passed away suddenly on March 31. He leaves behind his only son Aiden and a community of friends and coworkers who quickly became like family.
He made sure to let everyone know how much he cared every day with a hug and a smile. He also made sure to let everyone who would listen know how Aiden was doing, and how much he loved and cared for him.
As a chef, he was exactly the type of person you dream of having on your team. Always willing to help the kitchen in literally any way possible, he never let anything get in the way of working towards one goal - to bring joy to everyone who took a bite of something he touched. Matt worked hard at his craft, and he was a unique and true joy to work with. He had an innate love for food and had a natural understanding that went beyond words of how special our work could be - how special it is to feed people and and bring them comfort and conviviality. Through this work he helped bring his restaurant family together to become the closest of any I've ever been a part of. Matt was committed to this ideal and made it a point to get to know every single one of his coworkers, who all gained a little of his grace and good humor just from being around him.
We are devastated that he can no longer be with us. It's near impossible to think what it will be like to step back into that kitchen and not cook with him any longer. And it pains us all to imagine his family living life without him. It is now our duty to continue his legacy, and live life carrying his spirit forth with us to bring love and joy and kindness to all of those we meet. Because Matt would have, and he showed us how easy it really can be. That was his gift to us all.
In his name we now ask you for whatever you are able to donate to his memorial fund. These funds will go on to care for his son and his family directly. We are also looking into other ways we can all contribute to his family, and this page will be updated as those are made available.
Thank you for your time in reading this. Whether you contribute financially or otherwise, or even just say a prayer in his name, we, the Momofuku Las Vegas family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. With all of our love, we hope Matthew rests in peace.
We love you, MFG.
