Mathare center for hindered people is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that assists people with disability to build better lives through social integration, skill development, and useful representation in all aspects of life.
Mathare Center for Hindered People was formed by individuals that have been affected by real challenges of having a person with disability. By having a common interest and the same challenges with the rest of the community, the idea of establishing a unique organization with a certain perspective sprung up.
In an African set up there are a lot of stereotype associated with people living with disability hence difficulties in finding a formal jobs or employment in any case,in our center we want to give back their dignity by providing hands on skills like knitting and candle making hence the need for this fund raising in order to purchase this equipments and facilitate the training,we also intend to purchase therapy beds(We provide physio therapy twice a week i.e Tuesday and Fridays free of charge for any one with disability),refurbish the children's room and purchase more toys for the children.
The main beneficiaries of this program will be people living with disabilities mainly youths within Mathare slums the second largest slum with a population of over 400,000 residence majority living with a minimal wage.
This support will go an extra mile since dignity of youths and children living with disabilities will be restored by providing them with skill hence reduction in dependency ratio and contribution in the economy.
The main reason why we are fundraising in Krona is because Go fund me does not support Kenya shillings and we have an account in Norway.
