Hello family and friends,
It is with the heaviest heart that we inform everyone that our very beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Marilou Naval Bacarro Bagon, has passed away on the 27th of July.
Those closest to the family know that our retired grandfather, Florentino, has been looking after our mama 24/7. Even while she was technically under hospital care, he was there willing to learn and take guidance from nurses and doctors, so he could eventually take over all duties himself. With some help from us children and grandchildren, our papa has done everything in his power to ensure that my mama was taken care of in her last months of her life.
Due to such an intense diagnosis, she was unable to walk, unable to talk and unable to perform basic daily tasks such as clothe herself. Our mama needed to be fed, needed her medications administered and needed to be monitored at all times, to list a few of a plethora of other duties. This was all done by our papa Florentino, who in the past two years, had retired from full time work to look after our mama and spend time with her. Only a few months after our papa retiring, however, our mama’s extensive and intense medical journey began. What started as pneumonia and covid, turned into a permanent tracheostomy tube, endless fights against infection, a direct to stomach feeding tube and loss of most mobility.
As you can imagine, this road has been a very expensive one. Most, if not all, of our papa’s retirement fund and small aged pension payment, has been spent on the costs of caring for our mama. From her hospital bills in both Philippines and Australia, to her disposable products, our family have tried our best to keep afloat while dealing with the financial burden.
We are asking for any support, big or small, from family and friends that find they would like to help in carrying out our mama Marilou’s final wish; returning her to the Philippines to be buried with her mother. If you have gotten to read this far, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Marilou’s family ❤️
